Art Ferrigno
Marco Ferrigno’s workshop is located in San Gregorio Armeno street, where there are most workshop devoted to the creation of cribs and shepherds.
Inside his workshop, you will be astonished at great number of shepherds put on the “cork-sceneries”, that is the detailed sceneries typical of the Neapolitan eighteenth-century tradition of the crib. The cribs created by Marco Ferrigno respect faithfully the several scenes of the Neapolitan Nativity and they contain the ruins of an ancient temple reminding the past foundation of Naples. The large sized shepherds, about 38 centimeters tall, embody a wide range of street traders, fishermen end artisans wearing traditional costumes. These figures, who wear the typical multi coloured holiday costumes, are cheracterized by wery well-finished costumes and the physicalness of the pose. Marco Ferrigno took part in exhibitions on the Neapolitan crib and the typical shepherds in Italy end abroad.
